The Frame

We manufacture the frames in our own workshop giving us the extra confidence that our furniture will last a life time. The frame is the strength and backbone of any piece of furniture as everything else depends on the frame at the beginning of the production. We only use the finest quality of solid European Beech hardwood to ensure high quality furniture. For added strength all joints are dowelled, screwed and glued.

Churchill's occasional chairs and office chairs are also built from solid hardwoods. These are also built to the highest standard before being polished to the colour of your choice. All polished frames are available in various shades: e.g. Mahogany, Yew, Oaks and special shades to match individual customer requirements.

Castors and Bun feet

Bun feet or castors come complimentary with each piece of furniture as required by the customer. A wide range of styles and sizes of bun feet and castors are available upon request. Feet can be polished to standard colours or individual customer choices. We also offer a selection of wooden legs with brass castors at an extra charge on a selected range of furniture.

Leather & Upholstery

We offer a huge selection of quality European leather hide through our trusted suppliers. We can also work with other materials to cater to your desires such as swede and various other upholstery materials.

Example: Antique two-tone leather is commonly used on Traditional Chesterfield furniture. The pull-up leather is aniline dyed to create deep, vibrant colours. Finished with a wax and oil combination to give the leather a soft luxurious feel. This gives the furniture a rich ageing appearance.

We also offer plain pastel leather for a more modern traditional appearance that emanates magnificent charm.

Foam, Seating and Padding

Each and every piece of furniture has a different shape, therefore seat and back density differs from item to item to get the correct comfort of seating. We have several options of seating available using the highest quality fillings, ranging from very firm, medium, soft, fibre and feather cushions.

The cushions on each item of furniture is detachable, as they appear attached to the furniture from the rear bottom back of the cushion, we use a simple solution to stop the cushions sliding off the furniture by having a fixing hook & loop (Velcro) leather flap at the bottom back of the furniture. Our most commonly requested seat cushion is our medium density.

All foams used in our manufacturing are of the highest quality resilience all carrying a 10 year warranty, all are standard fire resistant.

We have developed a superior back support unit for our Chesterfield range, with our own unique style using a large super loop spring. Each back spring is traditionally hand-built and tied in to give a full traditional sprung back unit where allowing a softer back for the Chesterfields and more comfortable back support.

Every piece of furniture manufactured by ourselves has also a serpentine hand built sprung seat unit again all hand built in the traditional way, fitted to give a full supporting seat unit.

Buttons

The button not only helps to give a traditional look to the furniture but also serves a great purpose in helping to retain tension and shape. The buttons are securely attached and individually sunk to the required depth by hand not allowing them to come loose.

Studs

The upholsterer, in keeping with the traditional appearance, individually tacks all studs into the furniture. Our range of studs are from an antique on steel, bronze renaissance and optional extra brass finish.

Polishing

All our occasional furniture & wooden feet are polished to a high standard. We have the ability to match most finishes from shading of colours to matt to high gloss finishes on supply of samples. Using the latest technology in polishes and lacquers, combined with traditional frames enables us to give the frame a superior finish. The latest lacquers have the most up to date component available giving a high quality finish with a very strong durability.
